Cathy’s edition was translation of her studio practice in which she explored the concepts in painting and contemporary visual art practice within the architectural environment. In the space she presented a variety of colour field surfaces. These surfaces, along with the wall they were hung on became the painting support on which she painted a line that dissected all these elements. Within the paper surface Cathy tries to address similar concerns using the surface of the paper as the space in which to locate the colour fields.
Cathy was the inaugural recipient of the graduate bursary award offered by Parallel Editions in 2015 to a student of the Limerick School of Art & Design, Fine Art Department, who showed great potential in their practice. The concept behind the award was to help the student transition from the educational environment to the professional world of art making through the process of collaboration in the print studio and to situate their work amongst their peer group.
